Matthew 7: 1-20
What does judge not mean?
(unfair or self-righteous judgement)
Who are hypocrites?
(we discussed that in that day a hypocrite was someone who wore 2 masks
– actors in a play).
We are to judge righteously:
read John 7:24 Judge with ____________ _____________________
We cannot judge a
persons motives and “assume” what they meant…sometimes we misunderstand.
How do you know 100%
what’s in someone’s heart or their motive? ______________________________
Who are we to judge? (brothers/sisters who are in Christ
– or claim to know Christ)
Read 1 Cor. 4:3-4
….. “the one who examines me is the Lord” ….
Ultimately everything we think and do will be judged.
Who are the dogs and swine?

We must
discern between believers and non-believers (even those who claim to know, but
don’t)
We are to judge false teachers – anyone who says things that
are “outside” of scripture and “doesn’t point to Christ”
How to recognize
false teachers:
·
They will focus on you/Me and how great “we” are
– how powerful “we” are
·
They won’t focus on how great Christ is… for His
mercy and saving us (sinners who were enemies of God ….Romans 5:10) What do we
learn?

Salvation is by grace alone – not “easy believism”. It calls for knowledge of the truth,
repentance, submission to Christ as Lord and a willingness to obey HIS Will and Word. Christ
must be the LORD of your life…..HE rules
your life.
Does Christ rule your
life? _______________ Do you rule your life?

The Gospel Christ proclaimed was a call to discipleship, a
call to follow Him in submissive obedience, not just a plea to make a decision
or pray a prayer.
A person’s behavior will show their commitment to Christ.
